Resource Task Force - Study & Recommendation

As was previously communicated to all parishioners, “To stabilize and become as healthy as possible before we fully merge, we must clarify the needs of our parish. At Prince of Peace we need to stabilize the finances and determine which church will best serve us for the future.”

A Resource Task Force was formed to study and recommend sustainable building and structural needs for On Mission.
The Resource Task Force met over the summer, collecting and studying data. This data includes engineering studies, contractor reviews with cost estimates, parking, property building values, demographic and sacramental information, parish finances, a “Profile of the Pews” survey and more. After the review the Resource Task Force presented their recommendation to the Parish Leadership Team, who approved the recommendation. The recommendation was reviewed by the Pastoral and Finance Councils for input and continued discernment.  It has now been presented to the parish community at large.  This recommendation will then be presented to the Diocese of Pittsburgh and Bishop Zubik for final decsion.  

The Recommendation:

• “After a review of the Liturgical, Financial and Structural needs along with a Profile of the Pews survey of Prince of Peace Parishioners, it was the consensus of the Resource Task Force to recommend that Saint Adalbert Church continue as a worship site and that Saint Peter Church should close.”

The next steps and timeline will be:

• A Petition with all of the supporting data will be presented to Bishop Zubik to close Saint Peter Church.
• Bishop Zubik will consult with the Presbyterial Council on this recommendation
• A Decision by Bishop Zubik
• If it is a decision to close St. Peter Church
  • An announcement and Decree of Closure will be communicated
  • A date of closure and final cerimonies will be communicated
  • Implementation of closure

The Power Point Presentation will also be available to view, in a binder in the back of Saint Adalbert, Saint Peter and Saint Mary of the Mount Churches. If anyone is interested in further review of the data this information will be available at the Prince of Peace Parish Center.
