PLEASE WELCOME OUR PARISH ENGAGEMENT DIRECTOR! Before the merger of Prince of Peace and Saint Mary of the Mount officially happened, leadership from both communities knew that when we became one parish, we wanted to do church a little differently. We wanted to honor our history and also look to the future, to answer real needs, to partner with our surrounding neighborhoods in humility and vision. We wanted to help empower you, the People of God, to know and own your own call, and to work together to make the Body of Christ visible.
We knew that in order to move toward this increased engagement, we were going to need to create a new kind of position: A
Parish Engagement Director. And now, helping us move into our new chapter of life together as Mary, Queen of Peace Parish, we have found our Parish Engagement Director.
Please welcome
Megan Corder!
We spoke to Megan about her background and her plans for this new position.
What prepared you for this kind of position? I have a B.S. in Public Relations from Kent State University and M.S. in College Student Affairs from Eastern Illinois University, and have also worked in some related positions. I’ve done Alumni Relations, marketing, events, and community outreach/engagement. I’ve also planned large scale conferences, hosted national award-winning presentations, worked with donor and community stewardship, website management, etc.
What else do you enjoy? I really enjoy cantering, and have actually been part of some existing ministries, like Children and Family Ministry and Young Adult Ministry.
What hopes do you have for your position? Any projects you plan to focus on first? Yes! As I begin, I’m focusing on:
Welcoming new members and helping them become connected to the parish community.
Expanding involvement and retention of all members to ensure they’re engaging with our community in a variety of ways and are aware of available opportunities.
Identifying ways to track community engagement that builds from existing processes and continues to foster a strong faith community.
Getting to know our community – through virtual communications, phone communication, 1:1 meetings, events, group meetings and any other opportunities to connect
If anyone would like to meet I would love to connect with them! I plan to get to know our community members through a number of mediums, but they are also welcome to reach out to me (and encouraged!) via email (
[email protected]) or phone to connect!
