Our QPR Training previously scheduled for March 3 will be rescheduled later this spring. Please plan to join us.
You can help us stop suicide. Register for Question Persuade Refer Suicide Prevention Training.
Pennsylvania suicide rates are higher than the national average, and the effects traumatically impact families, friends, and entire communities. But did you know that suicide can be prevented? Yes, it's true, and your involvement can save a person's life. Question Persuade Refer (QPR) is a two-hour educational program designed to teach lay "gatekeepers" the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to respond. Anyone can become a gatekeeper: parents, friends, neighbors, teachers, athletic coaches, ministers, doctors, nurses, office supervisors, supervisors, police officers, advisors, caseworkers, firefighters, etc. Gatekeepers come from all walks of life and do not require any prior training or education.
We will offer a QPR Gatekeeper Training Session on Sunday, March 3, at the Cafe (403 Grandview Ave, PGH, PA 15211) from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m..
To register, contact the Parish Office at 412-481-8380 or email Megan Girata (formerly Corder) [email protected].
Offered by Laura Zurowski of the University of Pittsburgh's Northwest Pennsylvania Veteran Suicide Prevention Program, the session is available to parishioners ages 16+ and limited to 20 participants. Please let us know if you are interested in QPR training, but cannot make the time. Please note, this is the same training we offered last year and we will continue to offer it in the future.
