"Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word." (Luke 2:38)
On December 9, 2024 we will celebrate the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. As it has been the practice for several decades, whenever a holy day of obligation falls on a Sunday, the feast is transferred to the next day. All of the vigil Masses on Saturday, December 7 and all of the masses for the entire day on Sunday, December 8 are celebrated as the Second Sunday of Advent. All of the Masses on Monday, December 9 are to observe the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. This is a Holy Day of Obligation.
Below is the Mass schedule:
10:00 a.m. @ St. Adalbert
7:00 p.m. at @ St. Mary of the Mount**
On this day, we celebrate Mary's Immaculate Conception. "The Immaculate Conception does not refer to the virginal conception and the birth of Christ, but rather to Mary's being conceived without inheriting Original Sin" (United States Catholic Catechism for Adults, 142-143).
Mary is not only the patroness of our parish, but she is also the patroness of the United States of America.
**This Mass will be livestreamed on YouTube and interpreted in American Sign Language.**
