St. Mary of the Mount Church & St. Adalbert Church
This holiday season, we are sharing the ways that our parish serves the community. One important way that we do this is through our Food Pantry. Our Parish Food Pantry serves an average of 15 families bi-monthly in South Side. The pantry distributes items such as fresh fruits, vegetables, breads, desserts, canned goods, meats, and more. While we mainly provide food, we want to make sure we can help families as much as possible and do have clothing and other items for them. We work with local organizations, community members, and businesses to stock and fund the pantry. We also have emergency donations for those who need a little extra help throughout the month. The pantry is every second and fourth Wednesday of the month from 11:30am-12:30pm. If you know someone who may be interested in receiving donations from the pantry, please contact us. All are welcome.

Mount Washington Ecumenical Food Bank, currently and temporarily housed in 403 Grandview Avenue. The food bank originated as a collaboration between churches in Mount Washington to serve the community. They are temporarily operating out of 403 Grandview until they find a permanent location – and we’re glad to have them and appreciate all their work to feed our community! The Food Bank is on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 9:30am-11:00am and serves approximately 65 households monthly. This December, it will be on the third Tuesday. They work extensively with other local organizations such as the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank to meet the needs of every household
Ladies of Charity Organization who “minister to the spiritual and material needs of those who are ill, elderly, or financially stressed.” They focus on living a life of service and ensuring that the values of humility, simplicity, and charity are evident in all that they do. You may recognize the Ladies of Charity from their projects such as the Angel Tree! The Angel Tree is an annual collection for families in the community who are in need. They collect items such as children’s toys, gift cards, clothing, and more.
The Ladies of Charity contact members of our community who are homebound or in nursing homes. They reach out to them through calls, cards, prayers, and more to let them know we’re thinking of them! If you know someone who you’d like to include on their outreach list, please let us know!
If you’d like to support the work of Ladies of Charity, please send a donation to the Parish Office or offertory basket and mark “Ladies of Charity” on the envelope. They are so appreciative of any support!
“We proclaim your greatness, O God, your praise ever in our mouth; every face brightened in your light, for you hear the cry of the poor.” (Psalm 34)
