Calling a New Parish Pastoral Council

As we continue our faith journey to fully embrace our Community Covenant, we welcome members of our parish to offer their gifts as a member of the Parish Pastoral Council.  The Council is charged with guiding our clergy and leadership team in strategies to ensure a vibrant and inclusive parish.

To fulfill this charge, we embrace the teachings of Pope Francis, which reminds us that:

• We Pray:  “This is the strength of the Eucharist, which transforms us into bringers of God, bringers of joy, not negativity."
• We Invite:  “Whenever we encounter another person in love, we learn something new about God.”
• We Serve:  “Each day we all face a choice to be a good Samaritan, or to be different travelers passing by.”
• We Nurture:  “Being a disciple means being constantly ready to bring the love of Jesus to others, and this can happen unexpectedly in any place:  on the street, in a city square, doing work, or on a journey.”
• We Go Forth:  “He who encounters Jesus Christ feels the impulse to witness him, or to give witness of what he has encountered.  This is the Christian calling.” 
• We Embrace:  “Do not be afraid to go and to bring Christ into every area of life, to the fringes of society even to those who seem farthest away, most indifferent.”

All those interested in fulfilling the charge of Parish Pastoral Council will need to register and participate virtually or in-person, at a session that will explain the roles and responsibilities of being a member of the Council.  If you are interested or if you would like to nominate a candidate, please advise us via email at [email protected], or via the online form link below, or by a calling the parish office at 412-481-8380.  Please give your name, phone number and email address along with the introductory session you would like to attend (see below for dates).

The in-person session will be held on:

Monday, October 25, 7:00 p.m. at the Parish Center (81 S. 13th St. in the South Side). 

The virtual session will occur via Zoom on:

Thursday, November 4, at 7:00 p.m. 

Subsequently, an in-person discernment session will occur on Saturday, November 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Parish Center (81 S. 13th St. in the South Side).
